Two kinds of properties
Saint-André-Avellin is the most populated municipality in the MRC de Papineau, with just under 4,000 people. The village is served by municipal systems: a water system serving about 1,600 people, fed by groundwater, and a sewer that runs to aerated lagoons in service since 1995. Outside the village, properties have a well and a septic tank.
In the village: the drain between the house and the street
For properties on sewer, the most common problem is a drain that plugs repeatedly or backs up into the basement. Before digging up the service line, we run a camera to locate the blockage: roots, a sagging pipe, an offset joint (camera inspection).
When a basement takes on water during rain, the cause is usually the French drain, which should then be checked (French drains).
Shops and buildings
The village is the area's service centre: CLSC, clinics, arena, schools, shops. We also do commercial plumbing, upkeep and repairs, and multi-unit buildings.
Back roads, lakes, the river
The Petite Nation River runs right through the village, and there are Lac Whissell and Lac Simonet. For a farmhouse or a cottage off the network, the situation is the same as around Chénéville: pump, pressure tank, septic tank, leaching field. See residential plumbing for the rest.
