Town water in the village, a well everywhere else
The village of Chénéville has municipal water. Quebec's environment ministry lists the system at about 600 people served, in a town of just under 1,000. Other properties are on private wells.
The municipality publishes its permit statistics. In 2024 it issued 7 permits for groundwater wells and 11 for septic systems. For a small municipality, that represents regular well and septic work every year. See wells and pumps and septic systems.
The interior shut-off valve
If you're on town water and want your service shut off (for a repair, or because you're leaving for the winter), you ask the municipality, and there's a fee set by bylaw. If the shut-off valve inside the house is broken or missing, the town expects the owner to fix it or put one in. This is residential plumbing work, and we handle it.
The lakes, and the store
Four lakes in Chénéville have official names: Dumouchel, Georges, Lafontaine and Noël. A cottage closed for the winter can freeze if water is left in the lines. We have published an article on the subject: closing the cottage for winter.
For parts, visit our store: we carry inventory and have a bathroom showroom. The store is open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and closed Sunday; outside opening hours, emergencies are handled on call at 819-428-3161.
