Cottage country since the 1940s
Lac Schryer already had 250 cottages in the 1940s, plus a campground, a hotel and a restaurant. At Lac Vert, the White Fathers built a monastery and 49 cottages in 1940. Cottagers have been coming to Montpellier for at least half a century.
Cottages that old have been renovated, expanded and winterized along the way. Every addition raises the same question: can the tank and the field still keep up? Adding a bedroom takes a permit, and the provincial regulation requires a professional to confirm the septic system can handle it. If it can't, we rebuild it (septic systems).
Look before you dig
Before you buy an older cottage, we can run a camera through the drain between the house and the tank. Roots or a sagging or broken pipe can be spotted without digging up the yard. That's our camera inspection service.
The village and everywhere else
The village has a municipal water system. Quebec's environment ministry lists it at about 275 people served, fed by a well and a spring. Across nearly 270 km² of bush, hills and lakes, most homes have their own well (wells and pumps).
Route 315 runs through the village, and it is our route from Chénéville. For a new water line or a trench, we bring our excavator (excavation).
